Engineering Surveying
Before any civil engineering structure is designed, a topographical survey of the site has to be conducted to model the topography of the site. This data is provided in CAD format to the design engineer who will design the structure i.e., road, bridge, dam, high voltage tower etc. Once the design has been done, a setting out surveyor is contracted to set out the structure as per the design.
After construction, an as-built survey is necessary to make sure that the structure was constructed as per the design.
